- Past Tournaments.
- Ken Muir reported on the Primary/Elementary Grades Championship held in Flour Bluff. Events on the floor went well with the help of Eddie Rios and his four Club T Ds from HM King HS and the scorekeepers from Flour Bluff HS. Ken said having the players initial the scoresheets by their results helped resolve a dispute that day. He said that despite accelerating pairings there was a six way tie for first with 4 points in the primary section. The title of Coastal Bend Primary Champion was resolved with a blitz playoff between the top two players as determined by tiebreaks.
- Eddie Rios was not available to report on the CB Secondary Championship, but Sandy Riggs said it was a good tournament and glad that the Collegiate High School was able to provide some competition for HM King.
- Upcoming Tournament. The CB Grades tournament will be held at the Calallen Middle School this coming Saturday. There are 27 players registered as of the meeting. The email deadline for registration is Thursday, May 3 (and not the 4th as on the flyer). Activities related to Cinco de Mayo will be part of that tournament. Volunteers to help with the activities are welcome. Chris V. will be the chief TD, George T will do data entry. T Ds will include Wesley Anderson.
- Announcements: Bob James announced that he will be running at least one chess camp at Fannin Elementary and may run others. He will plans to host a late night blitz tournament the night of the release of the last Harry Potter book this summer, with players getting a copy of the book at midnight after the tournament. He will also host the City Championship this summer.
- Next Meeting: June 23 (Saturday) in the early afternoon. The executive committee will send out details.
- Elections will be held at that time. The nominating committee will present a slate of nominations at that time.
- A tentative schedule of fall tournaments will be laid out at that time. Please take requests for tournaments to that meeting.
- This coming fall’s Girls State Chess Tournament will be discussed.
