Date: August 15, 2010
Attending: Chris Villarreal, Ninfa Villarreal, George Tintera, Randy Ramirez, Augie Rivera, Ping-Jung Tintera and Don Morrison.
Location: Cafe Calypso in Corpus Christi.
The meeting was called to order by Augie Rivera at 3:10 pm.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved without objection.
Treasurer's Report
Chris Villarreal reported that the only expense not reported since the last meeting was the cost of the Annual Meeting. He expressed an interest in changing banks and will close the current account once that decision is made. Officers will need to sign the new card. Chris will contact officers once the signature card is ready. He proposed that all payments for OCBCF run tournaments from this point forward will be made directly to the OCBCF and then schools will be paid their remainder after all bills are paid.
Pending Business
- Prescott Elementary is not available for use for tournaments per Randy Ramirez. Don Morrison will check that St. Patrick's Church is available for the Beginner's Tournament on Sept 18 or 25.
- TD's are again asked to let Bob know about serving at the Scholastic Section of the Southwest Open on Saturday, September 4.
- Augie Rivera will serve as the point of contact for retention and recruitment of TD's. He will contact current TD's to make sure their USCF membership is up-to-date and that their TD status is secure. He will also be recruiting new TD's.
New Business
- In an effort to settle the calendar, Ninfa Villarreal and Don Morrison will contact previous hosts of tournaments regarding their ability and willingness to host tournaments this year.
- A motion to "authorize Augie Rivera to check on the cost of engaging a CPA to assist with preparation of financial reports, report to the officers on that cost, and to hire the CPA the costs being found reasonable" was passed unanimously. The reporting of details of the finances of individual tournaments will still be the responsibility of the treasurer.
- There was discussion about paying Chief TD's and computer operators at tournaments. There was no conclusion.
Next Meeting
- It was agreed that we plan meet on the second Sunday of each month at 3 pm at Cafe Calypso. In particular, the next meeting will be held on Sunday, September 12.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 PM.
I hereby declare that this is a true and correct rendition of my notes of the meeting held on August 15, 2010.
George Tintera, OCBCF Secretary
