The meeting was called to order by President Rivera at 2:15 PM.
The minutes from the previous meeting were not available and their reading was tabled.
Treasurer's Report.
We have open invoices with St. Patricks (Collegiate Tournament), Chula Vista, Windsor Park (for 2008 SYC) and IWA (2008). The money market fund has not yet been transferred to current officers.
Upcoming Tournaments
- Bob James reported that he is using Google Docs for online entries and that it seems to be working well. The chess raffle will be run by the De Leon?'s and feature a Giant Knight for the hopper. Jerry Wiser has been contracted for the trophies. Entries are coming slowly. Please send in entries ASAP.
- With regards to the scholarship announced for the tournament, there was a motion to: "Assist the underwriting of the Region VII scholarship in the amount of $500." It was approved unanimously (Bob James abstaining.)
- Other tournaments:
- Chris Villarreal will contact Sandy Riggs about the flyer for the Collegiate tournament.
- The St Patrick's flyer is already posted.
- There was discussion about possible locations for the Coastal Bend Primary and Elementary Championships, March 27. We will try to settle that at the Jan 31 meeting.
Past Tournaments.
- There were 95 players at the 2009 Share Your Christmas tournament. There were no particular incidents to discuss. All seemed to go smoothly.
- There was a 4 player round-robin TD tournament held at the SYC tournament. Chris wants to know when he gets his trophy.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:27 PM.
There will be an Executive Committee (Officers) meeting on Friday, January 22 at 6:30 PM at the Holiday Inn, Airport.
The next general meeting will take place January 31 at 2 PM at the Rivera residence in Corpus Christi.
