Minutes of the OCBCF General Membership
January 14, 2007
Location: St. Patrick Church, Corpus Christi, TX 2PM
Present: Ninfa Villarreal, Bill Wheeler, Wesley Anderson, Chris Villarreal, George Tintera, Randy Ramiez, Rosa Gonzalez, Anita De Ases?, Norma Ochoa, Eddie Rios, Russell Shelton, Ken Muir, Elma Salazar, Sandy Riggs
I. Treasurer's Report
Chris reported we received a check from Chula Vista for cost of their tournament. OCBCF still needs two signatures to complete the bank signature card. Checks can only be signed once this is done. In the meantime, bills are being paid using debit card.
II. Old Business
a. Incorporation Status - Exemption Application is needing a tax clearance letter stating that we ow no money to the IRS
b. Tax Return - Ed Partridge refiled 2004 taxes and it appears we will get a refund
c. Background Checks - general discussion was held regarding requiring all volunteers at tournaments to have a background check; Ninfa still doing some research on this.
d. Renting CCISD property - Bert Quintanilla is collecting data to present to CCISD in hopes of having rental fees reduced for the use of schools during tournaments
III. New Business
a. Website Space - Ken Muir suggested that we research the cost of adding a link to the OCBCF website that would provide information on the history of the 1947 US Open. Bill Wheeler moved that we pursue this; Ninfa Villarreal seconded and the motion passed.
b. Texas Scholastic Championship in Dallas - Eddie Rios suggested that we look into chartering a bus to this tournament. Elma Salazar volunteered to research this and bring the results to the next meeting.
IV. Upcoming Tournament Schedule
a. Regional Tournament originally to be held in Laredo in February 10th has been moved to Banquette.
b. IWA expressed interest in hosting Coastal Bend Grades Tournament.
c. USCF is now updating ratings each month rather than every two months.
d. General discussion was held to go through the schedule.
e. Ninfa Villarreal moved the the schedule be updated as discussed. Elma seconded and the motion was passed.
The next OCBCF meeting will be held at St. Patrick Church's Parish Hall on February 4th at 2p.m.
