
Annual Meeting Minutes Optimist Coastal Bend Chess Federation June 19, 2006, 2 PM Mandarin Garden Restaurant
Attending: Randy Ramirez, Irma Ramirez, Adam Carney, Daniel Naranjo, Rosa Gonzalez, RG Flanigan, Lucy James, Elizabeth James, George Tintera, Bob James, Ping-Jung Tintera, Augie Rivera, Norma Ochoa, Elma Salazar.
The meeting was called to order at 2 PM. In old business, Augie Rivera reported on contacting the State Attorney General’s about our incorporation status and getting different answers. He will continue to follow up with Ed Partridge. The schedule of tournaments for the Fall was announced as it had been decided at the May 21 meeting. It is posted on the website. Questions were raised about OCBCF first time sponsored memberships. A method of tracking activity is needed.
The following announcements were made. Eddie Rios is running for the presidency of the TCA. The OCBCF, together with Kingsville Chess Academy and the Susan Polgar South Texas Chess Center are applying for the 2007 Girls State Tournament.
There was no treasurer’s report, but we did receive a check from IWA for fees for running the Grades Championship held there in May. There was a motion to authorize renewal of the TCA membership for the OCBCF that was approved.
Elma Salazar reported as chair of the Nominating Committee. The slate of nominations was Treasurer: Chris Villarreal, Secretary: Norma Ochoa, 2nd Vice President: Bert Quintanilla, 1st Vice-President, Augustine Rivera, and President: George Tintera. There were no nominations from the floor. The slate was accepted by acclamation.
Informal discussion followed. The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 PM.
