
Annual Membership Meeting
Saturday, June 23, 2007
12 Noon
Location: Fuddruckers on SPID in Corpus Christi
Present: Rosa Gonzalez, Ken Muir, Norma Muir, Bert Quintanilla, Bob James, Lucy James, Ninfa Villarreal, Randy Ramirez, Irma Ramirez, Christina Potter, Alyssa Potter, Charlene Tintera, George Tinera, Bill Wheeler, Anthony Gallegos, Elma Salazar, Michael Wallett, Eddie Rios, Robert Mendoza, and Norma Ochoa
I. Old Business
A. Coastal Bend Grades Championship had 65 kids registered; kids play area was a big hit.
B. CCISD School Board - Bert met with Scott Eliff who in turn will meet with Dr. Hays to recommend that all campuses be open to Chess. Electric bill is challenge; the goals is to ask CCISD to waive fee or get price break when using CCISD schools.
II. New Business
A. Volunteer Poster - Ninfa Villarreal will develop a poster that can be used and moved from tournament to tournament.
B. Eddie Rios is organizaing a State Tournament and is asking OCBCF's assistance in fronting 1/3 of the hotel costs which is approximately $1,200. Discussion was tabled and will be discussed by the Executive Committee.
III. Nomination of Officers
George Tintera announced that the following slate was nominated for office of OCBCF:
George Tintera - President
1st Vice President - Augie Rivera
2nd Vice President - Bert Quintanilla
Secretary - Randy Ramirez
Treasurer - Chris Villarreal
Ninfa Villarreal moved that the slate of officers be approved. Norma Ochoa seconded the motion; motion passed.
George announced that the Executive Committee would meet once during the summer, but prior to the next meeting to discuss the budget.
IV. Treasurer's Report
Ninfa Villarreal reported on Chris Villarreal's behalf:
Beginning Balance as of March 1, 2007 = $22,901.14
Ending Balance as of March 31, 2007 = $21,639.14
Beginning Balance as of April 1, 2007 = $21,639.14
Ending Balance as of April 30, 2007 = $21,360.06
A check was received for the Primary and Elementary Championship held at Flour Bluff.
IV. Tournament Schedule
Bids were taken for tournaments for the coming year and are as follows:
September 22 - Beginner's Tournament...location to be determined
September 29 - Girls' Regional in Bishop
October 6 - Girls' State in Corpus Christi
October 13 - Callalen Fall Classic
October 27 - Wynn Seale
November 10 - Kingsville Shootout
November ___ - Texas Grades
December 1 - Windsor Park "Share Your Christmas"
December 7-9 - National K-12 Scholastic Championship in Houston
January 12 - Collegiate High School
January 26 - Flour Bluff Primary/Elementary Championship
February __ - Bishop Open Scholastic
February 9? - Laredo Regionals
February 16 - St. Patrick Shamrock Classic
March 1 - Baker Tournament
March __ - Kingsville March Madness
March __ - State
April __ - Kingsville Secondary Championship
May 3 - Callalen Grades
Chula Vista would also like to host a tournament, however, neither a month or date was selected.

Next meeting will be held at St. Patrick Parish Hall at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 9th.
