Minutes of the OCBCF General Membership

October 1, 2006

Location: 6825 Aswan, Corpus Christi, TX 78412, 2PM

Present: Ninfa Villarreal, Wesley Anderson, Judy Winston, Randy Ramirez, Chris Villarreal, George Tintera, Rosa Gonzalez, Bert Quintanilla, Elma Salazar, Lucy James, Bob James, Norma Ochoa

I. Treasurer's Report

Chris Villarreal stated that minutes voting in new officers need to be taken to the bank for new signature cards to be prepared. Officers will then need to stop by the bank and sign.

II. Secondary Championship

The Secondary Championship in Spring 2007 has currently received one bid: Eddie Rios, Kingsville. Discussion was held and it was agreed that bidding opportunity remain open until October 28th.

III. Past Tournaments

Callalen - Bob James stressed that only tournament workers should be on the floor during actual tournament play. He also stated that rounds should not start early.

Beginners - some confusion with inexperienced TD's allowing kids to re-set board after game; kids went on to play another game.

St. Patrick - Lucy James stressed that registration information should be divided by section and confirmed at registration time, as well as double checking spelling of names. She also asked that team coaches should remind parents to call registration personnel if child is not attending. TD's also need to double check color.

Discussion was held about developing a parents' information page with general rules of tournament play. There a many new parents who have questions such as pairings and standings. Lucy James volunteered to prepare it. Norma Ochoa will e-mail Lucy information from the St. Patrick Chess Team Parent Information Folder.

Next meeting will be held on Sunday, October 29th at 2PM at the home of Bert Quintanilla, 309 Peerman in Corpus Christi.
