Old Business
Ninfa Villarreal showed shirts she had found at a local store. She will purchase them with an OCBCF check. She will investigate someone to do the embroidery.
The Beginner's Tournament had approximately 47 players. The OCBCF wishes to thank the Oak Park United Methodist Men's Club for hosting. The OCBCF will donate $50 to the club. Thanks also to Christian Leos, Amanda Villarreal, Sierra Villarreal, Joshua Cardenas, Jonathan Cardenas and Benjamin (all middle school veteran chess players) for their work with the beginner players at this tournament. It was noted that we didn't record all information that is to be collected on the registration form. George Tintera was asked to investigate whether an online solution to submitting registration forms with complete information is possible.
The fall Tournament had 100 players with all four sections roughly the same size. There were not enough sections to justify keeping the novice sections, but the trophies were awarded to novice players. There were several players using the Mon Roi devices. One warning was issued to a player who was marking his move before making it. The OCBCF wishes to thank Bob James for doing a great job as TD and to thank Sandy Riggs, Collegiate High School and Del Mar College for being excellent hosts.
New Business
The next tournaments coming up are the Girl's Regional and State tournaments to be held in Laredo.
The schedule of upcoming tournaments was discussed. We believe the Wynn Seale Tournament will be canceled. Please check Tournament Schedule 20092010 for confirmation.
The Chula Vista AFA Tournament will be hosted by Collegiate High School on November 14.
Tentative dates for the Coastal Bend Championships is 27 March and for the Coastal Bend Grades Championship is April 17 or 24. These changes will be reflect in Tournament Schedule 20092010.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:27 PM.
The next meeting will take place October 24 at 2 PM at the Rivera residence in Corpus Christi.
I hereby declare that this is a true and correct rendition of my notes of the meeting held on September 27, 2009.
