FROM THE EDITOR

Hello everyone,

Planning stages are in full bloom. Meetings are being held and schedules are being checked. But, we are not through yet. We have several chess organizations running the local competitions. We still have the Coastal Bend Champions to determine. On April 14, in Flour Bluff, the primary and elementary championships are being held. This is spearheaded by Mr. Muir. The flyer for this tournament is up, but we did not forget about the older group because this tournament also has an open section.

On April 21, we have the middle school and high school championships in Kingsville. This tournament is run by Mr. Rios(me). This tournament also has two open sections, one rated and one non-rated. Again, The flyer is up.

Mc Gee Elementary and Calallen Middle School are hosting the Coastal Bend Grades Tournament. Ninfa Villarreal is the person in charge of that activity. This tournament will be at least a four section tournament. The flyer is posted .

The South Texas Chess Center also is running several Friday and Sat scholastic and open tournaments. You need to go to their website to check out their activities for the month.

The OCBCF end of year meeting is in the future as well. We use this meeting as our jump off point for the upcoming year, We elect officers and recognize everyone for their participation. It is the OCBCF way of saying Thank You for a wonderful year. Dr.George Tintera, our great leader is in charge of this activity. If you have anyone interested in finding out a little more about our organization, bring them to the meeting as our guest.
